Titan Story. Abel Antón
30 de April de 2024The Škoda Titan Desert Morocco is a magnet for different and incredible stories. Far beyond those superheroes and superheroines who are in the lead stage after stage, among the 452 Titans that make up the peloton there are stories of all kinds.
Some of them are more anonymous and others are well-known. Perhaps the most striking are the people driven by stories of solidarity or athletes from other disciplines who take the plunge to try mountain biking. Then there are those who unify both, as is the case of Abel Antón.
Rookie in the Škoda Titan Desert Morocco and almost a debutant in the world of cycling, Anton is the best Spanish long-distance runner in history. Two-time world marathon champion, he is one of the biggest names in Spanish sport.
His presence in the Moroccan race is surprising, as he is not known for cycling. However, his presence here has a solidarity aspect. He will be accompanying the Aural Centros Auditivos team, a group designed to support Silvia González, a lymphoma patient who seeks to demonstrate the healing power of sport.
There will be sores, aches, suffering and lack of technique in some of Abel Antón’s gestures on the mountain bike. But the rider from Soria has plenty of sporting skills and, above all, plenty of desire to help with a good cause: an incredible story of overcoming.
