Back to our origins
16 de December de 2024The Škoda Titan Desert Morocco 2025 has been announced today. Barcelona has hosted the presentation of the race, in which the route and some of the new features of the twentieth edition have been unveiled.
As usual, the race will consist of six stages. Six days of pure desert and a return to the origins. A route that includes plenty of elements from the 2006 first edition, but with novelties and new sections.
During the event, the participants also talked about all the initiatives that will be carried out to celebrate the race’s anniversary: special events, references to the past and projects for the future. One of them is, for example, SheTitan, which seeks to encourage female participation in the race.
It is also set to be the edition with the largest international presence in history. Right now it is over 25% of the peloton. Among them, a distinguished rookie, such as the Olympic gold medalist and winner of a Paris-Roubaix, the Belgian cyclist Greg Van Avermaet.
THE ROUTE
Up to 620 kilometers, starting in Merzouga and finishing in Maadid, with all the classic elements of the Škoda Titan Desert Morocco: stretches of dunes, navigation, marathon stage and that unique atmosphere of the Titan camp.
STAGE 1. MERZOUGA – MERZOUGA
A day of 95 kilometers in loop around Merzouga. Stage that will be characterized by the iconic passage through the Erg Chebbi dunes. One of the most classic and spectacular challenges of the race.
STAGE 2. MERZOUGA – FEZZOU
If the first day is defined by the dunes, this one will be by the navigation and the toughness. A day of 125 kilometers of tracks that roll at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. An epic day that the peloton will not forget.
ŠKODA WE LOVE CYCLING STAGE. FEZZOU – TOURZA
The only mountain stage of the edition. Start and finish at a well-known camp for the peloton. Along the way, 115 kilometers of downhills and climbs, including the Škoda Challenge section: a time trial climb that will reward the fastest to complete it.
STAGE 4. TOURZA – M’CISSI
The route returns to its classic routes and leaves the mountains behind. Day of pure desert and first sector of the marathon stage in which Titans will have to be self-sufficient to get by without assistance or the usual comforts of the camp.
STAGE 5. M’CISSI – EL JORF
Another stage that brings back a lot of memories for the race’s veterans. 120 kilometers of challenge with a different landscape from the previous days, more sand and a lot of navigation. Classic finish of the first editions of the race, next to the wells of El Jorf.
STAGE 6. EL JORF – MAADID
Last challenge for the peloton before crossing the iconic finish line at Maadid, where emotions will run high. A stage of just over 50 kilometers, but very diverse: stretches of sand, stone and even a small string of dunes before reaching the arch that marks the end of the adventure.
So will the Škoda Titan Desert Morocco 2025. An adventure with classic flavor, but with many new features. That will please both veteran and rookies. A route worthy of a race that celebrates 20 editions.
