Marathonian Zubero

9 de May de 2022

First sector of the marathon stage marked by the heat and the variety of terrain. Sand, stone, rock and dry beds were interposed in the 102 kilometers that separated Merzouga and Ksar Jdaid, start and finish, respectively, of the second stage of the SKODA Titan Desert Morocco 2022.

A day with fewer changes at the front of the race than yesterday, but in which the riders rode at full speed from the first kilometer.Pau Salvá remained in the lead for much of the stage. It was not until the last 15 kilometers that he began to lose seconds until his pursuers caught him in a moment of navigation for the FACTOR8 CYCLING PROJECT team rider.

The stage was again decided in a reduced sprint among the elites, in this case among a handful of 10 riders. Julen Zubero was the fastest, ahead, among others, of the leader, Francisco Herrero, who keeps the red jersey. Konny Looser was again second in the stage and remains in the hunt for Herrero in the general classification, both with the same accumulated time.

Looser spoils Ramírez party

Vera Looser had better luck than her husband, and she denied Anna Ramirez to achieve her second straight win. The Namibian rider won in a very tight sprint to the Catalan of KH7.

A stage in which Looser and Ramirez were in the lead along with the Norwegian Hildegunn Gjertrud during the first 75 kilometers. The former Norwegian road champion ended up losing some ground with the other two from the third checkpoint.

Finally, the winner was the Namibian, although she did not cut time with Ramirez, who remains with a firm hand as overall leader, four minutes ahead of Looser.
